Every parent I meet as a newborn photographer, have dreams for their babies. In an uncertain world, we feel we can do few things about changing the conflict and pain in the world. However, the one thing that is totally in our control is to raise our children as peace-makers not war-mongers. You might also want to choose a name that reflects your dreams for the future. It’s a long tradition, I wrote a blog about it recently, which you can read here

So, here’s a list of 10 baby names that mean peace.
Eirene

Eirene is the personification of Peace in Greek mythology. There are lots of versions of this name, including Irene, Irina and Ira.
Fenna

Of Friesland origin in the Netherlands, meaning peace and protection. It’s apparently an old name that’s coming back into fashion right now.
Lana

In Hawaiian, Lana means calm as still waters. In Greek it means shining light. Beautiful.
Serena

Peaceful, quiet, serene. Some names are even calming to say, this is one of them for me. Of Italian origin.
Winifred

The English version of an old Welsh name Gwenfrewi. Winnie is a really sweet nickname too.
Axel

Scandinavian name which means My Father Is Peace. Alternative spellings are Aksel or Axl.
Frederick

Germanic name meaning Frid/Fred as in Peace, Ric as in ruler. Introduced into Britain by the Normans.
Jonah

Hebrew meaning Dove, the traditional symbol of peace. I love this name, we nearly chose it for our youngest son.
Pax

Peace in Spanish. I think this name is super-cool and I guess you could use it for both a by or a girl.
Solomon

Derived from the Hebrew word Shalom, which means peace.
