I am constantly humbled by how many people entrust the photography of their newborns to me. It is wonderful to inspire that confidence and I hope that I connect with people whether it is in person or via my website, an email or a phone call. That being said, it’s always interesting to know more about what makes someone tick, so here are 10 things that make me who I am.
1. My dad is a retired photographer, I think it must be in the blood. We have lots of wonderful family photographs in both black and white and colour and pretty early on you can start spotting a camera in my hands.
2. I have a first class honours degree in Photography and Multimedia and an MA with distinction in Digital Arts (oh la la!)
3. I bake bread every week, using wild yeast that I cultivated myself.
4. I have a passion for good food (see above) and belong to a local Food Swap group, where we swap home grown and home made food.
5. I worked at Abbey Road Studios for 10 years, before leaving to become a full-time photographer. While I was there I met Paul McCartney, Buzzcocks, Kanye West, John Legend and many others. It was such a great place to work and I still miss the people.
6. My oldest son will soon be taller than me, how did that happen? :/
7. I married my childhood sweetheart – I met my husband when I was 15 and we started going out when I was 16, we’ve been together ever since.
8. When I was little I had bright red hair, in lots of curls – it was very cute.
9. As well being a photographer and a mum, I’m a Sunday School teacher and a school governor.
10. I love to read, when I find a book that I adore I just can’t put it down. At this moment I am reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt – guess what I’m going to do when I finish this post?!
****** LATE ADDITION*******
I just wanted to add a little note that my mum sent me after she read my blog, because it made me smile.
The photo in your post for Hushabye Photography was of Dad when he was 20 in the Royal Navy and taken on board HMS Vanguard. Needless to say I used to carry a similar photo around with me in my wallet when we were courting! Mum.
